solo organ, was performed by Amir Zaheri for the Liturgical Arts
Festival in Bowling Green, KY on September 14 and also in
Atlanta, GA the following week.
CHANSONS
POPULAIRES, a song
cycle for
voice and piano, and LIFE IS DREAMING, an improvisation in three movements for
voice, woodwinds and electronic tape,
were premiered by Michael
Kallstrom on September 8 at Western Kentucky University.
WHITE
WATER, for brass
quintet, was
performed live by the Smoky Mountain Quintet on WCQS-FM, public radio
in Asheville, NC, and also on the internet at www.wcgs.org on August
21.
It was also performed for a concert in Highlands, NC on August 19.
SHINING
MOMENT (solo horn in
F) and BROTHERS IN ARMS (horn and tape), were performed in Chile at the University
of Talca and the University of La Serena
during April 2009 by
Paul Basler of the University of Florida.
The Wind and the Waves
was performed by the Commonwealth Clarinet Quartet at the College Music
Society Great Lakes Chapter, regional conference in Mt. Pleasant,
Michigan on March 28, 2009.
The Cors d'Amour, a student French horn quartet at the University of
Kentucky, recently played STARFLAME
as part of its first place performance for the Southeast Horn Workshop
(a branch of the International Horn Society) quartet competition in
March 2009.
WHITE WATER was
performed by
the Smoky Mountain Brass Quintet for an American Composers concert at
Western Carolina University on February 10, 2009.
The quintet will perform the piece on its tour of the Southwest this
Spring.
OZYMANDIAS was performed
for the Mid-South Flute Society Conference at Austin Peay State
University on March 7.
The Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts has commissioned a new work
for viola, clarinet, trumpet, percussion, and piano
to be premiered by the GSA faculty ensemble in June 2009.
OZYMANDIAS, for baritone, flute, oboe and electronic tape, was
performed at Asbury College on January 16, 2009.
GREAT DAY COMING, for trombone and percussion, was
performed at Belmont University on November 12, 2008.
JAMMIN', for horn choir, was performed by the Horn Ensemble of
the University of Wisconsin on November 15, 2008.
It was also performed on December 6 at the Chazen Art Gallery in
Madison, Wisconsin. JAMMIN' is published by RM Williams Publishing.
WHITE WATER, for brass quintet, commissioned by the Smoky

DREAMS
AND THE SHORE, for bass voice, flute and percussion, premiered
for the Florida Flute Association Festival, Daytona Beach, FL, in
January 2005. Also performed for the Kentucky Flute Association
Festival.
STARFLAME
and HEADBANGER were performed
in London, England in January 2005. The TransAtlantic Horn Quartet
played both pieces for a live BBC radio program that was also simulcast
via the BBC’s internet site and heard by people all over the world. HEADBANGER will be featured on the
quartet’s new CD that is due for release in the Fall of 2005.
IT HAD TO
BE, for flute, oboe, clarinet and piano, given its
international premiere in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. U.S premiere
at WKU in
December 2004.
FORWARD
DRIVE, electronic score for modern dance, premiered at Emory
University in Atlanta,
Spring 2004, for the American College Dance Festival Association
National conference.
TELL
ME YOUR NAME, a music theater work for bass voice, electronic
tape, shadow puppets and video; the fifth work in the ELECTRIC OPERA
series.
Premiered in Spring 2004 by the composer in Kentucky and Ohio. And for
the Heidleberg College New Music Festival where the composer was a
Featured Guest Composer, performing for the festival and also
conducting workshops in the public schools.
PAUN
I KOLO for chamber orchestra. Commissioned by the Bowling Green
Chamber Orchestra as part of a state grant promoting cultural
diversity. Premiered in September 2003.
Electronic ballet score, FRANKENSTEIN, commissioned and
premiered by the Fort Wayne Ballet Company in Fort Wayne, Indiana
for their 2002 season.
Produced again for the Ballet’s 2003 season.
2002 Kentucky Music Teachers
Association Commissioned Composer. Composition, SOULS AND SOUNDS, for bass voice,
flute and piano was premiered by the composer with Dr. Heidi Pintner
and Dr.Donald Speer of the Department of Music in October for the KMTA
convention in Louisville, and performed at WKU on Kallstrom’s faculty
recital in March 2003.
CRIMSON
for clarinet, horn and piano, was performed on faculty recitals at
Kansas State University on September 24, and at the University of
Central Arkansas on September 26.

CRAZY
RHYTHM, commissioned ($500) and premiered by the Quadre Horn
Quartet in Los Angeles, CA, Dec. 2001. Also performed at San Jose City
College (Decemeber 2001), the Noe Valley Ministry (December 2001, The
University of Georgia (February 2002), and the Magnet Schools of Selma,
AL (February 2002).
JEEPERS,
performed by the University of Florida Wind Ensemble, Society of
Composers conference, University of Florida, Nov. 2001. Also performed
in a version for string orchestra and horn quartet by the Macon
Symphony.
One of three featured guest composers
for the nationally recognized Heidelberg College Annual New Music
Festival, with British composer Stephen Montague and Russell Pinkston
(Univ. Of Texas at Austin). Also featured as guest composer/performer
for a performance at a local elementary school (approx. 300 children)
Kentucky Music Teachers Association
(chapter of Music Teachers National Association) Commissioned Composer
of the Year. $1000 for a new work that will feature flute, bass voice
and piano.
Performances of STARFLAME at the Midwest Horn
Workshop (Oshkosh, WI), Tennessee Tech University, Mercer University,
Sarasota, FL and four performances in Boston, MA by the
TransAtlantic Horn Quartet
during their 2002 Spring North American Tour.
The tour also featured the premiere of HEADBANGER, a new work
commissioned by the TransAtlantic Horn Quartet. This work will be
recorded for the quartet’s second compact disc release. Both works were
also performed for the TransAtlantic Horn Quartet’s Summer Horn Seminar
at the University of Alabama (Summer 2002).

commissioned a setting of this
work for horn and orchestra through a grant from the University of

SUNDAY PAGES, an opera in two
acts,
composed on a Fellowship Residency from the Ragdale Foundation and a
sabbatical
leave from WKU. The four-night premiere and full production was given
at
Western Kentucky University in February, 1999.

of Florida, in Jacksonville, Florida, at Valdosta State University, and
for the National Conference of the North American
Saxophone Association.
MOUNTAINS, RIVERS, CAVERNS, for
bass voice, chorus and orchestra. Commissioned and premiered by theBowling
Green-Western Symphony Orchestra in April, 1997 with
the composer as bass soloist. TOWERS AND SPIRES,
was also commissioned by the Bowling Green-Western Symphony Orchestra,
and premiered in 1991.
ZING!, for contrabass and piano,
commissioned by Milton Masciadri
in 1995. Premiered at the University of Georgia and performed
in Italy, Spain, Slovenia, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and the Moscow
