RESEARCH PROJECTS

I have two main research areas: 1. Teaching writing across cultures and languages and 2. Teaching with technology, especially with video and multimedia in both face-to-face and distance learning classes.

Cross-Cultural Teaching Issues

"Perceptions of Cultural Difference in the Global Classroom." This project is based on a Junior Faculty Grant for international research. In addition to a theoretical inqury, this project is based on interviews that I conducted at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary and the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

The situation of English Instructors In Communist Hungary

The impact of the theoretical guidelines of homeland security on the situation and professional activities of English instructors teaching in higher education during the communist era.

Technology in Distance Education

For the 2007-08 academic year, I was honored with the Wood Professorship Award. My research for the academic year and beyond focused on how technology impacts students. I would like to find out what students' preferences are if information is available to them via video, audio, and text.
