How you can help:

  1. -Write/call/meet with your legislator! Please take a few moments to ask your legislator to support HB 43. (And encourage everyone you know to do the same!) Click here for how to find your representative and to get help with writing a letter. You can't start too early for the 2010 session.

  2. -Join the mailing list to get the latest updates on our effort.

  3. -E-mail us your ideas about how to push the bill. We’re in this together.

  4. -Join the Facebook group to show our unity.

  5. -E-mail us about your censorship stories. Nothing will convince legislators like real stories of censorship in Kentucky.

What is the Kentucky Student Press Bill (HB 43)?

The bill is about protecting the First Amendment rights of high school journalists. We believe an environment where students make the decisions is the only way to truly educate students about the rights and responsibilities of the press. At the same time, the bill would protect school administrators and advisers that allow students to exercise their rights.
