Notes:
  1. We prepare the tables in good faith.  While we believe the ranking is accurate, we cannot guarantee error free because sometimes authors use different institutuional and personal names when they publish articles.  For instance, instead of Western Kentucky University, some authors use Gordon Ford College of Business or GFCB; some authors use Kam C. Chan and K.C. Chan in different publications etc.
  2. We use weighted number of articles (wt) as the ranking criteria.  If two or more authors have the same wt, we use unweighted number of articles (unwt) as the tie-breaker.
  3. Panel A uses all 24 acounting journals. They are: 

    Abacus, Accounting, Auditing, and Accountability Journal, Accounting and Business Research, Accounting and Finance, Accounting Review, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Behavior Research in Accounting, British Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, European Accounting Review, Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of Accounting Literature, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting, Auditing, and Finance, Journal of Management Accounting Research, Journal of the American Taxation Association, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Management Accounting Research, National Tax Journal, Review of Accounting Studies, and Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting.

    4. Panel B use five premier accounting journals.  They are:
            Accounting, Organizations, and Society, Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics,
            and Contemporary Accounting Research.
