CALL FOR ESSAYS

The editors of Writing Who We Are: Poems by Kentucky Feminists and Telling Stories: Fiction by Kentucky Feminists announce the third in a series of writing by Kentucky feminists.

I to I: Life Writing by Kentucky Feminists

Revised Deadline: 15 January 2004
anticipated publication by early summer 2004
We'll review submissions as they are received; response time--two months.

The volume will be published by Western Kentucky University, with a grant from the Kentucky Foundation for Women.

We seek essays that go beyond autobiography to reflect on personal experience. We would like to see writing that explores identity, life changes, the interconnections between self and others, and feminist "moments," to name a few of the kinds of writing that we believe are richly deserving of an audience. We ask that your work evoke Kentucky and that it reflect on specific, real, concrete people and events. Finally, we seek work that reflects on the intricacies of gender, race, class, age, ability, and sexuality. If you have an essay that does any of these, please send it to us!
