Department of Geography and Geology

Western Kentucky University

I came to Kentucky in July 2002 from Los Angeles, California.  I like the country feeling I find in most of this state, including Bowing Green. Officially, Bowling Green is a city, but it has enough "country" around it and in it to make it just right for me.

I have finished a second master's degree at Western Kentucky University - in Geoscience.  My thesis: Using Archetypal Metaphor to Analyze Culture: A Chilean Case Study."  It is available HERE.  I am using a model for a common language developed by my partner Daniel Reader and myself called One Wheel, or ekacakra.  My research has lead to the development of a new system for personality typing based on Jungian concepts and archetypes (see study by Light 2007).  This was then expanded to the study and analysis of groups and systems.  A fascinating application has been in the area of collective mood and how that manifests in society, geopolitics, and the markets.  This is a summary of the research done with One Wheel to date.  Also, visit my blog for highlights of the coming month's global mood analysis.

Results of Current Research:

The Earth's Mood Cycles - The latest research allows projections of the "mood' of the planet itself.  This is really cool!

The MoodCompass Project - Projected changes in social mood is used to forecast likely changes in risk for social, economic, or geopolitical instability in the near future using One Wheel analysis.
